To get the museum open once again, we have to comply with certain criteria to meet the Covid Secure requirements. To this end a number of adjustments have had to be made to welcome visitors back once more. Due to the age and layout of the museum this has meant that we have to severely restrict the number of visitors in the museum at any one time. Please read the following carefully. Thank-you in advance for your understanding. The museum will be open to visitors by appointment only which must be booked in advance; casual visitors will be turned away. There are just three timed sessions per day at 10.00 o’clock, 12.00 o’clock and 2.00 o’clock, lasting 1½ hours each session. There is a maximum of four people per group (excluding children aged sixteen and under) To meet our obligation under the new NHS test and trace requirements, we have to obtain the contact details of each person over the age of sixteen, not just the lead person, of any group. This can be done in two ways: you can use the NHS test and trace mobile phone app, or you can complete a museum test and trace form when you arrive. This form will be destroyed after 21 days. Please arrive on time for your visit. Any delay in your arrival may shorten your visit and may impact on other bookings. The Friends shop will not be available for browsing or making purchases at this time. Important The museum toilet will not be available to visitors, so please make yourself comfortable before arrival. Arrival at the museum: 1. You are required to wear a face covering while in the museum unless you are exempt from doing so. 2. Upon entering the museum, you will be asked to sanitise your hands. 3. You will be asked to give contact details for NHS test and trace requirements. 4. A steward will explain housekeeping rules and give you guidance on the layout of the museum. 5. You may make use of the museum gardens at the end of your visit if you so wish, but you will be asked to exit the museum via the gate leading into the adjoining Blake Gardens and not return through the museum. How to make your booking. To make a booking you will need to phone the museum on 01278 456127.
